Welcome to the first Ergas Collection newsletter. The EC newsletter will seek to keep you abreast of the projects the EC is involved with, as well as providing information about shows worth seeing, events worth going to and other news of interest.

JANUARY 23 - FEBRUARY 2 2008: GALLERY 9

EC is pleased to announce a public launch of the collection at Gallery 9, Darley Street, Darlinghurst, Sydney. The exhibition will run from Wednesday 23rd January til Saturday 2nd February. The exhibition will include works by artists based in Melbourne and Auckland, including Tahi Moore, Trev Clay, Kate Just, Charlie Sofo, Silvana and Gabriella Mangano, Darren McDonald and Nick Selenitsch. It will include the breadth and diversity of works being acquired by the collection, from Charlie Sofo's performative installation work and Selenitsch's interactive felt 'paintings' through to Just and Mangano's media works and paintings by Clay, McDonald and Moore. MAY 15-31 2008: NEXT WAVE

EC is happy to be a partner and sponsor of Melbourne's Next Wave Festival. EC will focus on providing support to a number of curated exhibitions across Melbourne's contemporary spaces and artist-run initiatives. EC provides ongoing support of a number of exhibition, publication and artist support projects including publication funding, studio assistance through such programs as the Gertrude Street Contemporary Art Spaces studio support project and individual grants to artists and curators working in both Australia and New Zealand.

MARCH 4-16 2008: FRANK NOWLAN

Frank Nowlan will be holding an exhibition called 'Sacred Sites' at Sheffer Gallery, Sydney, in March 2008. Nowlan is an artist living in Thirroul whose work is based around personal and collective community memory. The exhibition will focus on a recent cycle of paintings of contemporary depictions of World War I memorials in all their faded grandeur. The series began with Frank's memory of his uncle who fought and served. The exhibition will include a number of Frank's personal and direct memory paintings to be shown alongside the group of War Memorial works. The exhibition is supported by the EC. Exhibition dates: Frank Nowlan @ Sheffer Gallery 4th - 16th March 2008, 38 Lander St, Darlington, Sydney. Gallery hours Wednesday-Sunday 11 - 6 pm, Opening 6th March at 6 pm.
